Speaking Words.
Sometimes, I second guess myself and wonder about these words and thoughts that I have about God, life, church, and whatever. I wonder if anyone really is paying attention and following along. I notice more and more that young theologians are using the web to write down their thoughts and musings, and it seems like we are all trying to be profound and "cutting edge". In the end though, does anyone really care? Is this a new venue to share that connects with people interested in the conversation, or is it merely a blank slate for people to write down questions and things that appear meaningful?
Or are we wasting our time? Are all these words worth it? Are we really doing something that can save our "beloved" church?
I think part of the challenge is that many of the people in leadership in the church don't read the blogs and don't pay attention to these voices. Churches are stuck in older models and in situations where new life for them isn't a realized goal. New life is something hazy that won't affect the way things are. More people will come to the church and participate in all of the activities without actually affecting anything. At least, I think that's what it might mean.
So, if that is true, then what do we do? Why do we write ideas out and suggestions? Why don't we just start new churches and form new communities? Then - we might find some space for our words to take root, ears to hear, eyes to see.
